This video gives a little more detail on my current solar renewable energy system which now has an Interlock installed. I’ve added 2 more batteries for a total of 7.9kW, and an Interlock Kit from www.interlock.com, also some additional safety features such as a cover for my aux outlet and a fire/smoke alarm which is not shown. The Interlock will allow me to power the entire house as opposed to only six circuits with the transfer switch. Using both the transfer switch and the Interlock gives me the flexibility to bring my office or other circuits off the grid during a normal day to day, and power the entire house during a major power outage. Works great, It’s important to have an electrician doing the install. The link to the latest schematic is below:

If you want to run your house on solar or wind power you have to start with getting your home as energy efficient as possible. I am running a hybrid system that incorperates solar,wind and a grid interactive battery backup system. The diesel generator ties it all together in the event of a long term power outage.

This is a different solar energy generator called the Stirling Plant, it is a system that harnesses up to 12x more energy than the expensive solar photovoltaic energy systems. My outside lights using a Velleman MK125 light sensor kit. I used 18/3 AWG wire to bring electricity from my battery banks to the front of the house. I used two positives and a common negative (both switched) to power the sensor and the lights in front of the house. The lights come on at dusk and go off at down with an adjustable sensitivity control knob. I also terminated my Malibu lights low voltage transformer and connected them to the sensor, I also replaced the Malibu light bulbs with LEDS.
