http://www.EnergyBrainiac.com – How to Install Solar Power System – What You Need to Install Solar Power System in Your Home
Wondering how to install solar power system and do not know where to start? Realistically speaking, I will not be able to cover all you need to know about how to install solar power system here in this short article. I can, however, give you an overview of the subjects you need to focus on to get yourselves started especially if you are thinking of doing a DIY project.

Before we start, the topics listed can in one way or another be found on the internet. However, due to the tons of information out there, you may find yourselves overwhelmed by the sheer amount of info you will come across before you even start. You might also come across bogus information from unreliable sources. From my experience, it is much more efficient to go for a guide that not only has all the essential topics, but also has proven records. It also has to be easy to read and follow for DIY novices. Anyway, let’s look at what information you need first:

1. Firstly, an overall picture of how the system works and if applicable, alternative ways it can be set up based on requirements and environment. This is important to get you started on the theories behind the system. You should not need to spend too much time here. If you need 2 days to digest what the whole system is about, it is too complicated for you as a beginner.

2. How to get hold of the components. You may think that building a system to generate electricity from solar is going to be expensive. Not anymore. You can in fact build the entire system using parts easily available at your local hardware store. A good guide will teach you how to install solar power system with the best components at the lowest bargain.

3. How to install solar power system. This will include detailed instructions of how you connect the components together, bearing in mind the electrical requirements and settings, as well as troubleshooting. Let me say this again, it is absolutely possible for a complete novice to learn how to install solar power system and it does not take months. The deciding factor is whether you are willing to spend a few hours per week on the project for a lasting supply of electricity.

4. You need to track the amount of electricity you are generating with the system as well as how to store excess electricity that is not used so that you can use it later. The system is not complete without these 2 components.

Other topics that are also useful include how to install solar power system that is on-grid and off-grid and how to generate electricity with wind turbines.

Well, I think I’ve finally finished my home solar project. After doing a lot of reading, I believe I have an otherwise decent and safe system. I tried to design it around the NEC’s Article 690 as much as “practical”. I’ve added additional components, and changed a few things around. It’s been an enjoyable and worthwhile learning experience. I read “free” books on design, operation & maintenance, and safety, along with referencing the National Electrical Code in relation to PV systems. After playing with my new Grid Tie inverter, I’m convinced that it’s a good addition to any system that produces 500+ Watts of power. My system is not the best and my way is not the only way to implement a home system, but I hope my ideas helps someone along the way. For those that wish to truly learn about Stand-Alone PV system design etc, the following are excellent free books I downloaded and used:
1.) Stand-Alone Photovoltaic Systems – (by Sandia National Labs)
2.) Maintenance And Operation of Stand-Alone Photovoltaic Systems (Sandia)
3.) Working Safely with Photovoltaic Systems (Sandia National Labs)
4.) Photovoltaic Power Systems And the 2005 NEC: Suggested Practices

Simply google the titles and download the pdf’s, and your good to go. Good Fortune, and have fun.

Electric cars are pure, because they can be powered by the sun.
Once you drive one, you feel like you have been born again.

Still we must re-organize society to look more like Apple HQ, where we can all walk to work, walk to school,
walk to the garden or food store, most of the time.

With a circular village, you can walk forever and never need to worry
about dogs, bikes, or being hit by a car.
Smoking is banned in the villege.

How many times can you walk around the circular
office building at Apple, inside Apple?
Or outside around the Apple?
One lap is 1 mile.

We should not need cars by 2020.
The spaceship has landed.
Captain Steve Jobs is our leader.

Suddenly you get inspired to buy solar cells and so
cut your umbilical cord to nuclear power, dirty coal and oil.

There is now a great solar system for people who live in apartments.
It costs $300. for the whole solar system.
You can take it with you when you move.

I have a friend in San Luis Obisbo, who started an electric vehicle rental business as her way of opposing nuclear power.
Her home overlooks the doomed reactor built atop 2 fault lies.
No that is not a typo.
Can you imagine the genius who built a nuclear power reactor atop 2 fault lines on a cliff overlooking the beautiful blue pacific ocean?

All power on earth comes from the sun.
Solar power is actually a nuclear reaction, at the only safe distance from the environment — 93 million miles away.

Solar power is an important tool to end nuclear power on earth
& hurl it all into the sun.

How could they have lied themselves into doing that?
It like a movie stage for a nuclear horror movie.
Remember “China Syndrome”, staring Jane Fonda?

Remember, 45% of the power coming from your wall outlet is nuclear power coming from San Luis Obisbo’s doomed nuclear power reactor.
By boycotting PG&E, we can shut down nuclear power.

Goal Zero is a green company selling solar powered batteries that allows you to have power for your APARTMENT during a quake or other power outage.
They sell a cute battery, solar panel and led lamp bundle that will power your cell phone, computer, radio & a lamp.
I use it every day just so I can boycott PG&E.
Now I am ready for the next big California quake.

The battery Goal Zero sells will strap on your electric bike, so you now have power to double the distance your bike will go on solar.

It lasts for 20 years & costs, on line, about $250.
This is a great gift for your parents, to keep them safe during a quake.

Cars: The Prius plug-in has to be the star of the solar powered cars.
It doubles as a bed room because all the seats fold down creating a giant bed for camping, traveling or if your unemployed.

Segway. Young people go for the Segway because it keeps the wind in their hair.
This has to be my first choice as a truely solar powered vehicle, because of its high quality battery, which is easy to charge with solar cells.

Nothing beats the bike as a definition of freedom.
Powered by young energy and food that is right for ones blood type.
At what age will bike riders opt for an electric powered bike that they can charge from the sun?

I had a dream about a battery powered bike with a triangle shaped solar panel between my legs. This idea puts the bike, solar panel and battery all in one cute package.
All this talk about solar is making me giddy.

I have this genius friend, Clay, who builds Solar powered, BERM houses that are each totally self sufficient, off the GRID, stand alone.
Each house taps the geo thermal heat that is only 12 ft. below the surface, keeping the house at 55 F, for free, year round, even in the coldest weather. Now when you add solar heat, you have a very nice house.

What is a BERM? It is a foundation that taps the 7,000 degree temperature from the center of the earth. This free heat keeps the house toasty in the winter. And cool in the summer. I love how science allows contridictions that feel good.

He also builds solar powered RV’s. This has got to be the best electric vehicle to try in 2012. Snow birds travel to Arizona for the winter and live for free off the sun.

Now at least, we have solar powered vehicles that make nuclear power unnecessary.

If an industrial giant like Germany can decide to quit nukes, so can an environmental giant like California.

Ford’s electric car, the Volt, is a poorly built car that looks great, but will fall apart and cost more for repairs, after 5 years, than the original cost.

GM’s electric car, the Leaf is OK, but it is poor quality and won’t last 20 years, like the Prius will. I would never buy GM junk.

Every nation is now building electric cars:
France, Japan, Korea, Brazil, USA.
The whole world is going solar fast.

The Audi is the car of the year because it has built on wifi,
Google, and a Navagation screen to map your route.

http://www.EnergyBrainiac.com – Build Your Own Solar Panel – How to Build a Home Made Solar Panel
Global warming and dSolarling supplies of fossil fuels have caused people from all corners of the globe to become concerned, resulting in a long overdue interest in the potential of Solar energy. On the other hand, many people have already embraced this free source of renewable energy and are already powering their homes with Solar energy.

Solar Energy

Radiation from our sun heats the air which in turn rises. As this warm air rises, so cooler air sinks down to replace it, resulting in perpetual Solar currents which cover the surface of our planet. Of course, Solar currents have energy and when one considers how devastating a hurricane or a tornado can be, it’s all to easy to imagine what a phenomenal amount of energy can be harnessed from the Solar.

Of course, for the purpose of powering your home with Solar energy, we’re only interested in more moderate Solars, suitable for Solar Panels. In essence, a Solar Panel is much the same as the old original Solar Panel; only Solar Panels incorporate technology which allows us to convert Solar power into electricity

Solar Panels

In the past, Solar farms, which can sometimes be seen on the roadside, were mainly used to supply remote areas which were of the grid as well as remote farms. Nowadays however, Solar Panels are becoming increasingly common even in residential areas that do receive grid supplied power. In this case, a Solar Panel can either reduce your consumption of grid power or even eliminate it altogether.

In order to achieve maximum stability, all Solar Panels have no less than three lightweight blades, usually made from PVC for extra durability.

As most are familiar with, a Solar Panel needs to be mounted on a tower and while those used on Solar farms can be more than a hundred feet high, residential towers only need to be high enough to ensure the Panel blades are above any structures which could obstruct the Solar. In addition to being mounted on a tower, the blade assembly is mounted on a shaft to enable it to swivel around as the Solar direction changes.

Home Solar Energy Systems

While Solar Panels can come in many shapes and sizes, those which are used for powering homes are divided into three kinds:

1) Grid inter-tied with backup battery

2) Grid inter-tied without backup battery

3) Off-Grid system

Irrespective of which system you use, all three systems harness Solar energy and convert it to electricity in exactly the same manner. The difference between the various systems lies in the wiring, and in the case where a battery is being used; electricity can be saved and used as and when required. In a system that has no battery, electricity is supplied directly into the home supply.

Solar Panels provide practically all homeowners with an ideal opportunity for powering the home with Solar energy. Not only will you save money on electric bills, but you’ll also be helping to build a greener world.

http://www.EnergyBrainiac.com – How to Make a Homemade Solar Panel
Solar panels, unlike before, are cheap and easy to install with great efficiency. With this advent, you can save big money as well as help save the environment. A DIY kit is available and has an easy to follow instruction with them. What you need is some simple tools and you’re done.

Here is your guide to make a homemade solar panel:

1. First, you must know the loads of your solar panel and the package that is affordable to you. One watt of solar panel module will coast you about $25 and a 200 watts module is around $1000. If you need more power, you can connect this to form a collector to produce your desired power needs. Electrical connections are made in series to achieve a desired output voltage and/or in parallel to provide a desired amount of current capability.

2. After selecting the solar panel modules, you need a charge controller which is an important system component that regulates the voltage generated by the solar panel. This will regulate your power and provide protection to the batteries from being over or under-charged.

3. Next, you need a solar inverter this will convert 12 volt DC (direct current) from solar panel to 125 volts AC (alternating current) which will feed your appliances. Some high end inverters combine an inverter, battery charger and dual transfer switch in one package.

4. Batteries are needed if there is no sun or there is a blackout in your area. Typically, lead acid batteries are use because of performance and cost. Newer lead-acid battery is called maintenance free and this does not require water addition, but this is expensive. The battery is one of the first components of your solar panel to be replaced. Usually, a battery can have 200 to 300 charge/discharge cycle because of corrosion and depletion of active materials. So, be prepared to change batteries in about a year. Typical price of batteries ranges from 100 to 500 dollars.

5. Also, you must consider the battery enclosure as this are toxic and can explode. Solar PV (Photovoltaic) Panel Mounting System is where your panel will be installed. You can choose either at the roof, pole, or at the ground. There are so many designs to choose from and some have motors to track the sun.

6. The last, but certainly the most important one, is that make sure to have your wire connection checked by qualified technician. Faulty electrical wiring is the most common fire hazard today.

Now that you know how to make a homemade solar panel, you can now start this DIY project with ease. It’s affordable and simple without having to worry about your monthly expenditure on electricity anymore.

You can definitely save money and the environment by making a homemade solar panel at your own home. It is a fun, enriching, and worthy project to undertake.
