I’ll be attending the University of Saskatchewan starting September, 2012, and I was going to get a mortgage loan so I can get free power via solar panels on the roof of my house. I know there’re blizzards and tornadoes in Canada, but is enough sunlight generated for me to use a 7,500 watt solar panel to power my house?
The most important step for anyone asking this question is to speak to a local solar installer. I would think that Canada in general is not very good for solar power, due to the high latitude, but you never know.
If there are no solar installers (or worse, no solar installations) in Saskatoon, that wuold be a clue that the area is not economical for solar.
