Flexible Solar Panel to Grid-tie inverter Green DIY Save electric. These new flexible solar panels are very powerful and how up very nicely. They dont have glass to worry about breaking in a storm. During an overcast day and with the flexible solar panel on the ground it was putting out 15-18 watts with no issue at all. It should peak 124 watts on the house and I will update you guys as I install the panel with the results. Stay tuned for more power saving DIY Mixcat.com videos. The SF Examiner points out that the CPUC is owned by PG&E.
There are 3 ways to get free solar power.
The best way is to install solar panels on your roof, use what you need and sell the rest on the grid at 35 cents kWh to PG&E.
In this way your solar panels become like a tenant, cash flow to pay your mortgage.
This is the path most investors & homeowners favor: Cash Flow.
The “Million Solar Roofs” law provides this option. But the CPUC will not enforce the law & require PG&E to pay their fair share because all the commissioners are employees of PG&E. (SF Ex 1-27-12)
The payments to homeowners was the way Germany was able to inspire 400,000 homeowners & farmers to install Solar. This is the reason Germany was able to close down its nuclear power reactors in 2014. Read the book: “Energy Imperative” by Hermann Scheer. This is the era of energy self-determination. The sun sends us 20,000 times more energy than mankind’s daily uses in 2012.
Second, is to go off grid by buying a Solar kit from Home Depot or Lowe’s. It costs $1,500. & allows you to run your whole house. It is easy to install so any TENANT can now boycott PG&E & live off grid.
Third is to convert an RV to Solar. Park it on federal lands and you can live 100% Solar.

Germany may be @ 100% renewables by 2040.
Scheer inspired Germans to understand that they could go to 33% Solar just by paying homeowners to harvest SUN & wind power and feed it onto the grid.
They get paid .35/kWh & make a good income. Cash flow. That is why the German economy kept growing 6% during this 2008 Depression. Germans are the greenest people on Earth. Now Japan has voted to go 100% Solar, wind, Geo.
I believe California can achieve 100% renewables by 2040 if we enforce the Million Solar Roofs law to inspire everyone to install Solar & windmills.
Fukushima.
Silent vigil for Solar 3-11-12 @ 101 Market & Spear, following a speech by Paul Kangas on how everyone can build a Geo thermal house. The center of the earth is 7,000 F.
By building a berm house you capture the heat & the house stays at 55 F in cold weather. Add solar & your home is at 72 F.

Seven years ago Diana and Michael Lorence moved to a 12-foot-square home without electricity in the coastal mountains of Northern California.
They’re not back-to-the-land types- they’re not growing their own food, nor raising animals-, but, like Thoreau, they were looking for a place where they could get away from the noise of society and focus on their inner lives.
For nearly 30 years they have lived in tiny houses, often in guest homes, though their current abode is the smallest and most fitting their needs. It was designed by Michael based on their experiences living in nearly 20 tiny homes across the country before finally settling here.
They don’t have electricity nor any other type of alternative energy (i.e. solar power). They don’t have a refrigerator so they eat a lot of vegetables, fruits, grains and nuts.
There’s also no oven, but Diana says she doesn’t bake anyway and she cooks their meals with their one cast iron pot over the fire. The fire is also their source of hot water, heat and light (in addition to candles).
The Lorences are a private couple, but recently they have begun to speak out more about their lives in hopes of showing others that options such as theirs exist.
Until now, the couple has turned down requests appear on video, not wanting to be categorized as simply another couple choosing to live in a tiny space. So I was pleasantly surprised when Diana and Michael agreed to let me visit their home with my camera.

Hey guys! I’ve got a lot of comments on how I wired up the whole system from the inverter all the way into the house… I hope this helps out.. I tried to make this as user friendly as I could, but if you still have any questions feel free to ask

In this video I discus a change I would make to the electrical if I were going to hook this house up to a solar power source. I also discus my choice for the interior siding.

Home made 10′ x 3′ solar water bag system for heating pools. It’s a stackable low cost inflatable solar panel system for heating pools without the need for a perminant structure, permits or home owner association approvals. It steals some of the water from a pool jet, heats in the sun and puts back into the pool. You can make one bag in an evening out of a commonly available heavy black plastic sheet and some common PVC parts that connect to garden hoses and low cost garden hose valves.

Global warming and dSolarling supplies of fossil fuels have caused people from all corners of the globe to become concerned, resulting in a long overdue interest in the potential of Solar energy. On the other hand, many people have already embraced this free source of renewable energy and are already powering their homes with Solar energy.
Solar Energy
Radiation from our sun heats the air which in turn rises. As this warm air rises, so cooler air sinks down to replace it, resulting in perpetual Solar currents which cover the surface of our planet. Of course, Solar currents have energy and when one considers how devastating a hurricane or a tornado can be, it’s all to easy to imagine what a phenomenal amount of energy can be harnessed from the Solar.
Of course, for the purpose of powering your home with Solar energy, we’re only interested in more moderate Solars, suitable for Solar Panels. In essence, a Solar Panel is much the same as the old original Solar Panel; only Solar Panels incorporate technology which allows us to convert Solar power into electricity
Solar Panels
In the past, Solar farms, which can sometimes be seen on the roadside, were mainly used to supply remote areas which were of the grid as well as remote farms. Nowadays however, Solar Panels are becoming increasingly common even in residential areas that do receive grid supplied power. In this case, a Solar Panel can either reduce your consumption of grid power or even eliminate it altogether.
In order to achieve maximum stability, all Solar Panels have no less than three lightweight blades, usually made from PVC for extra durability.
As most are familiar with, a Solar Panel needs to be mounted on a tower and while those used on Solar farms can be more than a hundred feet high, residential towers only need to be high enough to ensure the Panel blades are above any structures which could obstruct the Solar. In addition to being mounted on a tower, the blade assembly is mounted on a shaft to enable it to swivel around as the Solar direction changes.
Home Solar Energy Systems
While Solar Panels can come in many shapes and sizes, those which are used for powering homes are divided into three kinds:
1) Grid inter-tied with backup battery
2) Grid inter-tied without backup battery
3) Off-Grid system
Irrespective of which system you use, all three systems harness Solar energy and convert it to electricity in exactly the same manner. The difference between the various systems lies in the wiring, and in the case where a battery is being used; electricity can be saved and used as and when required. In a system that has no battery, electricity is supplied directly into the home supply.
Solar Panels provide practically all homeowners with an ideal opportunity for powering the home with Solar energy. Not only will you save money on electric bills, but you’ll also be helping to build a greener world.
